Waterproof decking
Vinyl membrane decking
Norcut installs 68mil PVC vinyl membrane decking across Greater Victoria and the Gulf Islands. It is a fully waterproof, walkable surface heat-welded into one continuous sheet over a plywood substrate — the standard fix for a deck or balcony over living space. Anti-slip, and it sheds the coast's rain instead of trapping it. Estimates on most jobs within a day.

What vinyl membrane decking is, and when it is the right system
Vinyl membrane decking is a PVC sheet, 68mil thick, rolled over a solid plywood substrate and heat-welded at every seam so the whole surface becomes one waterproof membrane. Flashing ties it into the walls and drainage, and the finished surface is walkable and anti-slip — no boards, no gaps for water to get through.
It is the right system any time there is living space, storage, or a suite under the deck, and for balconies that have to stay dry. On the coast, where rain is the main enemy of a deck, a welded membrane is what keeps water out over the long run. It goes over a sound substrate, so an existing deck can often be resheeted and membraned rather than rebuilt.

How it works
Residential & commercial
We install for homeowners and strata, and subcontract membrane work for general contractors and property managers. Strata and multi-family balcony membrane is covered on our commercial page.
What it costs
Vinyl membrane is priced by the square foot, and the number depends on the area, the condition of the substrate, the flashing and detailing around walls and posts, and access. Instead of a generic per-square-foot figure, we publish real completed jobs with their actual costs on our projects page, and you get an exact written estimate after the site assessment.

Common questions
How much does vinyl decking cost per square foot in BC?
It depends on the deck area, the condition of the plywood underneath, how much flashing and detailing the edges need, and access. A generic per-square-foot rate rarely matches a real deck. See completed jobs with their actual costs on our projects page, and request an estimate for a figure specific to your deck.
How long does a vinyl deck membrane last?
The sheet outlasts the seams and flashing, which is why every seam is heat-welded into one continuous surface and tied into proper drainage. Done right and kept clear of standing water, a PVC membrane stays waterproof for many years — Norcut's waterproofing and appearance warranties are shown in the credentials above.
Can you install vinyl decking over an existing deck?
Often yes, if the substrate is sound. We take the old surface down to the plywood, or resheet it, fix any rot, then heat-weld the membrane over top. If the framing or plywood is failing, that gets repaired first — we cover that under deck renovation and repair.
Is vinyl decking slippery when wet?
No more than other wet decking. The membrane has an embossed anti-slip texture, and choosing the right texture for high-traffic spots is part of the spec. We walk the options during the assessment.
